Exchange 2007 "bridgehead"
I have installed Exchange 2007 in to an existing Exchange 2000 environment, and it is functioning as the hub transport role. All is working fine, email is received via the Exchange 2000 server but is going out the Exchange 2007 box. I would prefer to keep mail flowing out from the 2000 box until mailboxes are moved over, which is a couple of months away. The reason for this is an unreliable VPN connection that is in place, which will eventually be replaced by dedicated fiber.
Can anyone tell meif this is possible, or how to accomplish it?
Thanks in advance.

If you created any internet send connector on Exchange 2007 Hub Transport server then disable it till the time, if it is enabled then mails will go through least cost path.

I'll coordinate this with the client, and give it a try. Thanks.

Unfortunately this just caused mail to queue on the 2007 server. Unless we tell the whole Exchange organization to deliver mail through the 2000 server, isn't this an expected response?

Solution:
Create a new SMTP connector on the Exchange 2000 box with a cost of "2". The send connector on the 2007 box can then be disabled.
